History of IIMV

First academic batch — Post Graduate Programme (PGP 2015–17) — inaugurated. Classes began on Sept 21, 2015, with first regular academic session starting Sept 28, 2015.

2015
The Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017 gets enacted — granting IIMs (including IIMV) status as “institutions of national importance”.

2023
In the 2023 NIRF rankings (management category), IIM Visakhapatnam topped among all the “new-generation” IIMs.

2023
The campus spans ~241.5 acres, with built-up area ~62,350 sq m, developed at a cost of ₹472.61 crore. It’s a modern, digitally enabled, 5-star GRIHA-rated green campus.

2024
IIMV completed 10 years since its establishment — reflecting on a “decade of growth”. As of 2025, the institute reportedly serves over 3,000 learners annually (across campus, online & hybrid programmes), including ~600 students in its flagship PGP.
